It excels on two fronts: 1) it provides much generic "pseudo-code" (computer recipes) for writing subprograms, and 2) it touches on everything from Keplerian motion to estimation theory to atmospheric modeling for drag perturbations. It starts out a bit too tongue in cheek for my taste but the scene soon switched to Newfoundland and Proulx hits her stride with a touching depiction of what life in a remote, backward, and harsh environment is like. Now, though Charlotte has to deal the loss of that one friend, the sudden feelings she has for a certain boyfeelings she hasn't had in years, and the changes she's experiencing (the tear in her nails, the blood suddently rushing to her cheeks again). I won't spoil it just in case you're looking for a book whose ending will make you sad and probably more than a little angry. Despite those two points, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I am happy to recommend it to others. High priced but if you want to know different poker games, this book is thorough with A LOT. I think it is probably the best book out there on Goldfish.
