I can understand the disappointment of many of Walter Mosley's fans with this book; superficially, it has very little in common with his crime fiction. I highly recommend this book for book lovers out there. Corcoran also outlines the conditions for personhood in multiple ways: a) the capacity for a certain range of intentionality; b) the capacity for a first-person perspective; c) persons are essentially constituted by means of bodies; d) persons are persons in relation to other persons. And this one is definitely an oddity.
