Not only am I led to Schweitzer’s religious works but to Hermann Hagedorn’s Prophet in the Wilderness. By the time she realized it was all an elaborate trap, it was already too late. This book is a fine teaching example of how graphic design is formed by and informs cultural context and how its artifacts remain in the bloodstream of a culture long after an ideology has run its course. But Marvin has other ideas and makes a break for it. Apppeared in his own comedy TV show in UK and Australia for many years.

reviews: When this book was chosen as a book club selection, not one of us ladies realized that it was actually Christian fiction. Although I am a Christian, I have found that much Christian fiction I read just ends up being a bit too unrealistic for my tast...

I also tripped over the use of expressions like "in the limelight", I struggling with whether that was intentional or not in describing the people who installed arc lighting in Manhattan. The author also adds material in the later chapters, focusing on the antagonism that erupted between the United States government and the old doctor, as Schweitzer and other activists, such as Albert Einstein and philosopher, Bertrand Russell, exposed to the public at large the fall-out hazards of the hydrogen bomb testing that the government wanted to keep secret, as the Cold War was then in full swing. A poor Breton squire, ungainly and unlettered, he came of age at the onset of the Hundred Years War. Seeing this new maternal side of Hel and her pride for Eirik is one of my favorite parts of this book. Wanting to learn more I read several books and found this one to be the best for a concise coverage of the war.
